Title: Process for preparing esters of O,O-dialkyl
Document Type and Number: United States Patent 4,282,153
Inventor: James Minn
Publication Date: 08/04/1981
Assignee: Hercules Agrochemicals Co., Wilmington, Del.
Abstract: A method for improving the yields of insecticidal compositions produced by reacting an O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphoric acid with a chloro-p-dioxane in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst and a stoichiometric excess of the acid reactant. More specifically, the method concerns the improvement wherein certain bicyclo-heptenes are added to the system resulting from the reaction and reacted with the excess of O,O-dialkyl dithiophosphoric acid present in the system.

Title: Use of a mixed catalyst system to improve the viscosity stability of rosin resins
Document Type and Number: United States Patent 5,049,652
Inventor: James Minn
Publication Date: 09/17/1991
Assignee: Hercules Incorporated, Wilmington, Del.
Abstract: Esters having improved viscosity stability are prepared by heating a mixture of rosin and a polyol in the presence of a catalyst mixture of 0.1% to 0.6% by weight calcium bis(ethyl 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl phosphonate) and 0.02 to 1.0% by weight of a second calcium compound selected from calcium carbonate, calcium oxide and a calcium salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid, all percentages being based on the weight of rosin.
